Alternatives to Sejda
Sejda ships no redaction tool and says so plainly - its own editor warns that whiteout "will not completely remove underlying text or images". That honesty is unusual here. Several of the alternatives below claim redaction; only some of them genuinely remove content, and the redaction column says which.

Worth knowing before you stay or go: The free tier is genuinely restricted and the limits differ by surface and task: the web free tier allows three tasks per hour, documents up to 50 MB and 200 pages, one file per task, OCR up to 10 pages, conversions up to 20 pages, images up to 5 MB and combining up to 30 files and 50 pages, while the desktop free tier allows three tasks per day, documents up to 50 MB and 200 pages, compression up to 100 MB, OCR up to 10 pages, images up to 5 MB and combining up to 30 files and 50 pages. The desktop download page currently says 'Sorry, we no longer support Free Download' next to an Alternative Download option while still describing free use with daily limits, and the vendor FAQ says no perpetual licences are offered, so the desktop free route is not treated here as a current supported download. Pro removes those caps. Editing the text already in a scanned page is not what the editor does, and converting a scan to Word or Excel needs the OCR tool rather than the converter; adding text, images and annotations to a scanned page is a different operation and the notice allows it. Separately, the Week Pass is a one-time payment for seven days rather than a weekly subscription, and the annual plan is the one that renews.
The short answer
The closest Sejda alternatives in this index are Adobe Acrobat , Foxit PDF Editor and PDF Candy . They share enough of the job to be worth comparing, which is why they are on this page - a shared job tag is a candidate, not a finding that they work the same way. What separates them from Sejda is what they charge and whether your file leaves your machine. Sejda processes some versions on your device and runs others on a server, which the vendor documents, and 1 of the 6 listed have no vendor service in the path .

A tool marked same owner is operated by the same company as Sejda. That does not make it bad, but it is not an independent alternative - switching to it does not change who holds your documents or sets your terms.
1 of the 6 is desktop or command-line software, so there is no server in the path at all - PDF Studio. That is a statement about how the software is built rather than something we measured, which is why the files column words it differently from a tool we tested.
