Stated by the vendor in their own OCR article: Scanner Pro uses an on-device OCR model and does not upload recognised text to cloud storage. Their privacy FAQ adds that no files are transmitted to or stored on their servers.
Caveat: the privacy notice says some AI features may use third-party providers, so not every newer feature is guaranteed to be local.
What it does
Scanner Pro turns an iPhone or iPad into a document scanner: it detects edges, corrects perspective, cleans up the image and saves multi-page PDFs or images. Its on-device OCR adds a searchable, copyable text layer and supports Latin, Chinese+, Japanese+, Korean+, Cyrillic and Other language bundles.
It combines scans into multi-page documents, reorders pages, inserts a drawn signature, exports scans as PDF, JPEG or TXT, and can password-protect exported PDFs and fax documents. Cloud sync, workflows, OCR, merging, the PDF converter and password protection are part of the Scanner Pro Plus subscription.
The current App Store version is 9.0.2.
Best for
iPhone and iPad users who scan contracts, receipts and IDs and want searchable PDFs with OCR, plus lightweight editing and signing without a desktop.
Worth knowing
The app is free to download but the Plus subscription is what unlocks watermark-free scans, OCR, full-text search, merge, the PDF converter, password protection and workflows, so the free tier is a limited trial rather than the full product; Scanner Pro Plus is sold as a 1-week or 1-year subscription and Fax Packs are separate purchases, and the App Store's several price points carry no period, so no single price or from-price is published.
It is an iPhone and iPad app: the marketing line about iPhone, iPad and Mac refers to sync and access, not a native macOS application, and the App Store listing has no Mac device family. OCR runs on-device with Latin, Chinese+, Japanese+, Korean+, Cyrillic and Other language bundles, but the vendor publishes no accuracy figure and the feature is a Plus entitlement for new users.
Password protection applies to exported PDFs and to the app itself: the PDF password is set on export and the recipient must enter it to open the file, which is a password-based protection rather than a claim about encryption strength or reader enforcement. Signing is a drawn signature image inserted into a scan, not a certificate-based digital signature, and no signature validation or certificate-authority claim is made.
Scanning and OCR are local, and the privacy notice says files are not stored on Readdle's servers; cloud sync is optional, AI features may send inputs to providers that retain them for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, and faxing sends the document to a fax service. Data is stored on US and EEA servers for account and analytics data, and the app is not a redaction tool: the eraser removes marks from scans rather than permanently removing content.

Confirmed verbatim: the sentence is the product page's opening description, and a second description further down repeats the substance - "a mobile scanner app that turns paper into clean digital files". The claim lists eight capabilities in one breath, four of them in a trailing phrase ("sharing, sync, print, and fax"), and the page does not substantiate them individually on this page.
This is the vendor whose on-device OCR claim was verified earlier in this campaign, and whose OCR support article was the source for it; the two entries describe the same product from different pages.

The page supports the claim in full, but the wording in our record is ours rather than the vendor's, and this finding says so because the index renders claims in quotation marks. The page's own sentence is: "Scanner Pro's OCR model runs entirely on-device.
Recognized text is never uploaded to Readdle's servers or any cloud storage - it stays on your iPhone or iPad." That is both stronger and more specific than the claim as recorded, which paraphrases it. A second limit is worth recording: the article defers the authoritative text to the application itself - "To review the full data handling policy, go to Settings → Privacy Policy inside the app" - so the policy governing this claim cannot be read on the web at all, and the claim rests on a support article rather than on the policy.
Corrected on 2026-09-21: this entry used to carry our paraphrase of that sentence rather than the sentence, which is a misquotation when the index renders it in quotation marks. It now reads as the vendor wrote it, and the vendor's wording is stronger than ours was - "never uploaded to Readdle's servers or any cloud storage" against our "we don't upload".
